Overview
Mount Kenya, standing at 5,199 metres, is Africa’s second-highest peak and one of the continent’s most stunning and challenging destinations. Known for its rugged glacier-clad summits and rich biodiversity, it offers a spectacular mix of technical climbs, breathtaking landscapes and diverse wildlife. This 8-day trek follows the Sirimon Route, acclimatising through the Liki Valley and peak circuit before pushing to Point Lenana (4,985m) and on to the twin technical summits of Nelion and Batian (5,199m).

Tour Plan
Day 1: Nairobi – Old Moses Camp (3,300m)
Depart Nairobi at 8:00am and drive to Nanyuki (~4 hrs). Proceed to Mt Kenya National Park Sirimon Gate. After a picnic lunch, follow the track uphill 10km — fork left at the junction to reach Old Moses Camp at 3,300m. Ascent from the gate: 690m.
Day 2: Old Moses Camp – Shipton's Camp (4,236m)
Hike through the Liki Valley via Mackinder Valley to Shipton’s Camp (7–8 hrs). Lunch served en route. Enjoy splendid views of the north faces of Nelion and Batian peaks from camp.
Day 3: Acclimatisation Peak Circuit — Shipton's Camp
After breakfast, begin the peak circuit for acclimatisation. Ascend to a steep ridge through Kami Hut, Hausberg Col and Two Tarns Lake (~4 hrs through spectacular scenery). Return to Shipton’s Camp.
Day 4: Shipton's Camp – Austrian Hut (4,700m)
Trek to Austrian Hut, located just east of Point Lenana — your base before climbing Nelion.
Day 5: Point Lenana Summit (4,985m)
Depart at 3:00am. Navigate across tough scree to Harris Tarn, then ascend the north face of Point Lenana. Reach the summit for sunrise at 6:30am. Descend to Austrian Hut.
Day 6: Nelion & Batian Summit (5,199m)
Early start. Cross the small glacier to the base of the route. Technical ascent — crampons used on the firm snow. Traverse the Gate of Mist to Batian summit. Return to Nelion and Austrian Hut. Full summit day: 10–12 hrs round trip.
Day 7: Austrian Hut – Met Station (3,048m)
After breakfast, descend south to Met Station. Overnight here.
Day 8: Met Station – Nairobi
